First Time Visitor

WELCOME to Saint John’s Episcopal Church! We are so happy you are here. We are a laid-back, accepting group – you will find all types of people from many different walks of life here. Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact the church office or Rev. Jill.

Well we could go on and on about how great we think St. John’s is, but here is what some of our members have to say:

Yes, all our grounds are handicap accessible. We have ramps to both buildings and a handicap ADA compliant restroom in our Parish Hall/office building. Handicap parking spaces are designated. There are shorter pews where wheelchairs can be parked in the sanctuary. The buildings are air conditioned and we also have an AED onsite.

Our grounds has plenty of parking including designated handicap spaces.

8:30 – Worship

Our early service includes communion and follows Rite 1 (no music.)

9:15 – Education Hour & Coffee Hour

Classes are offered for all ages. Sunday School classes are for children from birth through grade 6. Classes for adults rotate throughout the year – check our homepage for the most up to date adult ed classes. Classes are held the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day. You are also welcome to join us for coffee hour fellowship during this time.

10:00 – Worship

Our late service includes communion and follows Rite 2 including music. A children’s sermon is offered at this service.

Communion is a part of almost all worship services held at Saint John’s. All are welcome at the Lord’s Table! Gluten-free wafers are available, just let the Priest know.

You can expect to be greeted at the door and provided with a bulletin to help you follow the service. Most of the service is printed in the bulletin. A few hymns will be in the hymnals located under the seats in front of you.

You can expect to see people of all ages and many families with young children. Children are very welcome in worship. Our smallest worshipers are invited to sit toward the front where it is easiest for them to see and hear worship. Bags filled with coloring books can also be taken back to your seat. There is a nursery located in the office building if you need to use it. Ushers will happily help direct you there.

Please note: restrooms are located in the Parish Hall/office building.

Worship simply is offering – in worship we offer God the thanks and praise. Part of our offering of thanks and praise is a financial “offering” in response to and recognition that all of life and all we have is a gift of God. These gifts support the mission and ministries of the congregation. There is an offering plate in the back of the sanctuary you are welcome to utilize if you so choose.  There are extra envelopes available from the ushers if you need one. You can also contribute through our secure online giving.

Between the two services, we offer a coffee hour for folks to enjoy beverages and treats. Everyone is welcome and we hope you will join us!

In addition, we have many fellowship opportunities throughout the year. Click here for the full list. You can also refer to our latest Messenger email which is linked from the homepage. We hope to see you at an event soon!

Yes, we have an active Youth Group! Youth Group is open to all older youth in 6th-12th grade and meets on the 2nd and 4th Sunday from 4:00-5:45PM during the school year. YG is a mix of learning about our faith and doing service projects (such as volunteering at SPCA and packing meal bags for Thanksgiving). We also have a lot of fun playing games or going bowling. The Youth Group also holds several fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for summer mission trips. Past mission trips have gone to West Virginia and Guatemala.

Saint John’s sanctuary is an historic building and as such does not have a restroom inside. But right beside the sanctuary is our Parish Hall/office building that has several restrooms including an ADA compliant one in the hall closest to Concord Road. There is also an ALL Gender/Family restroom right off the main entrance near the handicap ramp. This restroom has a baby changing station. A changing table is also located in the nursery down the hall from the restrooms.
