This Program offers opportunities to make a gift to benefit and beautify our campus.

As the Green Team considered best practices for stewarding our resources, we recognized the importance of reviving and improving our tree canopy as foundational to caring for our overall property and community.

Our Master Canopy Expansion Plan:

  • focuses on native and ornamental trees
  • identifies best locations for specific trees
  • replaces lost tress and provides new ones
  • creates welcoming spaces and needed shade
  • begins with Memorials along Concord Road

Trees:

White Dogwoods and Southern Magnolias along Concord Road; American Holly, Native Black Cherry, Tulip Poplar, Paw Paw, Oak.

Record:

Your donation will be memorialized in the records of St. John’s Church in a visible manner to be determined by the Vestry. No markings shall be attached to trees.

TO DONATE A LIVING MEMORIAL TREE:

Please contact the parish office at
(610) 459-2994 or office@SaintJohnsConcord.com to arrange a meeting with a member of our Green Team who will:

  • provide a list of native/recommended species,
  • identify best locations for specific trees
  • outline costs to procure, plant and maintain tree for three years,
  • explain responsibilities of the Donor and the Church/Vestry

WHY NATIVE TREES?
They benefit the environment and local ecosystems, thrive in the local climate, are more resilient to pests and diseases, and support local wildlife, providing food and shelter for small animals, insects, and pollinators

WHAT TIME OF YEAR SHOULD TREES BE PLANTED?
In the Autumn. We are already planning for fall planting.

WHAT IS THE TREE CANOPY?
The canopy is the layer of branches and leaves that act as a “roof” over a forest floor, providing numerous environmental, social, and economic benefits such as to air quality and biodiversity, and beautify the area.
