Stewardship: Walk In Love

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and walk in love as Christ loved us and gave himself for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
2025 Stewardship Campaign and Pledge Commitment

Please respond by December 1, 2024

Dear Members and Friends of St. John’s Church:

Our fall Stewardship Campaign’s theme is “Walk in Love,” and we have begun our journey to plan and budget for next year’s activities and ministries. We invite you to think about what St. John’s means to you and your family. Your annual pledge is vital to our support plans for next year.

2024 has been a year of growth for St. John’s Church! Your commitment to walk with Christ at St. John’s, your talents in supporting our activities, and your generous financial support has enabled us to grow our community with new members and embark on new activities to support those in need. This year we welcomed two new staff, Laura Seidelmann our organist, and Dwayne Morris as choir director. Laura enhances our worship with her personal hymns sung at Communion and Dwayne directed our choir with several gorgeous new anthems this Fall. In addition we sponsored a Youth Group mission trip to Appalachia this summer to assist families in need with home maintenance and construction projects.

When you pledge your individual financial resources to St. John’s, you fund not only our future, but support our present as well: your financial donations go to our operating expenses (think lights, heat, mowing our many acres) and are also used to support ministries such as Sunday services, Sunday school, pastoral care. We walk in love with Christ as we share our outreach funds to pay for the rent of our sister parish San Andreas in Guatemala; and in 2025 we look to expand our financial commitment to Chester Eastside Inc by providing a monthly hot meal to those in need. Your contributions provide for the salaries of our Rector and staff, pay for insurance, property taxes, utilities, office expenses. St. John’s does not receive any funding from the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania; rather, we pledge a portion of our budget to support the mission of the wider Episcopal Church with outreach to Kensington and to Philadelphia’s growing Latino population. Your pledge stays at St. John’s and is used to fulfill our mission.

Thank you for supporting St. John’s and our ministries. Your efforts through time, talent and financial giving allow St. John’s to be a church where you can experience meaningful worship, grow spiritually, and belong to a welcoming community that always walks in love with each other.

In Christ’s love,

Rev. Jill LaRoche Wikel, Rector                          Vestry of St. Johns
