The Green Team has been busy the past few weeks. First, thank you to all the parishioners who completed our survey to help identify five top priorities: Limiting the use of disposable products; Increasing as our primary focus perennials and pollinator-friendly plants; Purchasing recycled/recyclable products; Planting trees and plants for birds/wildlife/insects; and Providing bird houses for the meadow area. On February 25 a workshop on Lenten Roses (hellebores) was presented by Bernie Miller. Participants learned about these early-blooming pollinator-friendly plants and prepared cuttings to take home. Dishwasher-safe juice cups for children have been ordered. A user-friendly recycling container lid has been installed to help make recycling decisions a bit easier, along with a poster picturing what is/not recyclable. A preliminary review of trees was accomplished for consideration in future property plans. Next events: April 7 Make-It/Take-It program on Black-eyed Susans, and April 21 Celebration of Earth Day.
